I’m an artist from Chicago, though now I live elsewhere (pictured below) creating contemporary art/new media inspired by minimalism and psychedelia focusing on collage and ephemera. I write semi-autobiographical short stories that blend character study, social criticism, philosophical reflection, stream of consciousness, explicit language, sex, surrealist free association, and mysticism. The modern web, as it stands today, is a greatly reduced version of its earliest incarnations; devoted to adspace and datamining, the Internet known to most users is a corporate facsimile of one of the most predominant mediums of creative expression.
The Internet is not lost, though. Tucked away in furtive crevices exist sites like mine, and sites like those belonging to so many talented users and developers who call Neocities home. Making your own website is an easy, fulfilling, and creatively freeing exploit; by creating your own space within the Internet, and not following a template designated for use by corporations, you liberate yourself in some small quantity, and enrich your mind with a furthered knowledge of what it means to make something from scratch. I hope this site, and others on Neocities, might inspire you to establish your own niche on the World Wide Web. It's a tedious process, something any webmaster will reveal to you, but a process well worth the effort!
